Since the beginning of 2024, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Jiangxi Province has formulated and implemented an action plan to promote high-quality Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) cooperation.
The plan introduces 13 key measures to guide enterprises in prioritizing resource development, engineering contracting and industrial park operations in countries involved in the BRI. Efforts are concentrated on expanding the development and utilization of mineral resources in partner nations, securing stable sources of overseas raw materials such as copper concentrates, and capturing greater market share abroad.
As a result of these policies, the Zambia-Jiangxi Economic Cooperation Zone has made significant progress this year. The zone saw the construction of more than 10 new standardized factory buildings and hosted promotional activities to attract additional business investment.
By the end of November 2024, five new enterprises had joined the zone, bringing the total number to 11. The cumulative investment of these enterprises has reached $129 million (941.6 million yuan), spanning industries such as new energy, copper processing and cigarette manufacturing.
The Zambia-Jiangxi Economic Cooperation Zone, jointly established by Jiangxi International Economic and Technical Cooperation Co., Ltd. (CJIC) and six other Jiangxi-based state-owned enterprises (SOEs), is the province’s first state-approved overseas economic and trade cooperation zone. To date, CJIC has won 37 project bids with a total contract value of 8.07 billion yuan, while Jiangxi Construction Engineering (Group) Co., Ltd. has secured 12 projects worth 1.4 billion yuan.
A series of livelihood projects and key infrastructure initiatives run by renowned Jiangxi enterprises have further enhanced the “Jiangxi Construction” brand in the BRI.
