Tan said in his speech that it is a glorious mission and responsibility for central state-owned enterprises (SOEs) to beef up efforts to shape their image as world-class enterprises, and tell the world stories of how Chinese modernization can promote globalization, make the world a better place, and benefit humanity. He urged central SOEs to fully implement the guiding principles of President Xi Jinping’s important address at the fourth symposium on Belt and Road construction, and establish world-class international communication mechanisms as an integral part of their efforts to pursue high-quality internationalization. He said central SOEs must create top-grade Chinese brands at a faster pace, forge an approachable and appealing image for themselves, and serve as envoys of mutual learning and friendship between different civilizations. By engaging more deeply with the world and leading its development in their new image, central SOEs should tell the Chinese modernization story in a way that helps forge a global consensus on prosperity and modernization for all.

Results of the “International Image Building of Chinese Enterprises in 2024” competition were unveiled at the summit. Cases of eight central SOEs are on the top 10 list. They are: China General Nuclear Power Corporation’s “Husab Marathon: Building a Bridge of China-Africa Friendship”, China National Nuclear Corporation’s “Connecting the World: China Nuclear Industry Huaxing Construction Co., Ltd. Fulfills CSR in Belt and Road Cooperation”, Power Construction Corporation of China’s “Building a Bridge to a Green Future: Our Eco-friendly Infrastructure Construction in the United Arab Emirates”, China National Petroleum Corporation’s “Practicing International ESG Philosophy and Boosting Green Energy Cooperation Worldwide”, China Communications Construction Company Limited’s “Green Construction: Reshaping Africa’s Longest Karst Cave”, China State Construction Engineering Corporation’s “Building a New IP of China Story with Intelligent Construction”, China Eastern’s “A Foreign Streamer’s Journey to Lincang: Writing a New Chapter of Rural Revitalization by China Eastern”, and China Railway Group Limited’s “China-Built Bullet Trains Running on African Continent”.

Over 300 people, including representatives from leading domestic enterprises, think tank experts, and journalists, attended the event.
