The “Annie’s Wish” International Children’s Painting Exhibition and Charity Auction, organized by CHN Energy Investment Group (CHN Energy)'s GD Power, was held on Dec 17.
The exhibit featured 48 remarkable works selected from the "Annie's Wish" International Children's Painting Competition, as well as 15 pieces jointly created by Chinese and Indonesian children as part of efforts to build friendship and promote cultural exchanges between the two countries.
The theme of the exhibition, "Connecting Children's Hearts, Painting the World Together”, allowed the Chinese and Indonesian participants to use their unique perspectives and vivid imaginations to depict the beautiful scenery of their hometown, their vision of a better future, and their understanding of the friendship between the peoples of China and Indonesia.
The competition ran from July to September, with a total of 122 contestants aged 4 to 17 participating, including children of Chinese and Indonesian CHN Energy employees. After expert selection and an online vote, 48 works were selected for the exhibition, while outstanding contestants were selected to enter the semi-finals. Chinese and Indonesian contestants were paired one-on-one, and 15 paintings were completed by cooperation in conception, creation and base coloring.
A charity auction allowing visitors to bid for their favorite work was held during the exhibit, with all proceeds going to the "Annie's Wish" scholarship fund, which helps underprivileged children in Indonesia complete their studies.
The "Annie's Wish" Foundation – named after a late Indonesian employee – was established in 2023 to commemorate her kind, optimistic spirit and concern for education. The foundation has established a scholarship fund management committee, and formulated a complete management and donation charter. It is the only officially certified scholarship fund project to be initiated by a Chinese company in Indonesia and has won the respect and recognition of the government, the public and partners. Almost 6,000 Chinese and Indonesian employees have participated in fundraising to date, raising a total of more than 400,000 yuan ($55,000) in donations, with five student donations made.
CHN Energy has also embraced its social responsibilities in Indonesia by promoting a mangrove protection initiative. By implementing measures such as river dredging and providing medical assistance, the company has fostered a harmonious and symbiotic relationship with local communities.
The company continues to build the "We Are Together" brand for international communications and cultural exchanges, with various cultural integration activities planned to strengthen the friendship between the Chinese and Indonesian peoples while also promoting cultural exchanges and economic cooperation between the two countries.
