Ahead of the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland, ground was broken on an affordable rental housing project -“Cai Tang Yuan”- in South China’s Guangdong province on December 9.
The Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, Zhuhai city serves as a new platform to support the diversified development of Macao’s economy and promote the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Once completed, the project, commissioned by China Construction Science & Technology Group Co., Ltd, will offer new living and employment spaces for people from Macao and surrounding areas.
It spans approximately 200,000 square meters and includes seven residential buildings, a cafeteria, a community service center and other related facilities.
The project incorporates a holistic design approach for the structure, decoration, and mechanical and electrical systems. Hosing components are manufactured in intelligent factories and completed on site.
The 3,000 units of 50-square-meter affordable rental housing are designed to offer spacious, pillar-less living spaces, providing residents with a flexible and adaptable long-term housing. Covered walkways between the seven buildings serve as shelter during inclement weather, allowing residents to access essential amenities safely during typhoons or heavy rains.
