Spanning a total length of 5,427 meters, the bridge begins in Wanrong county, Yuncheng city, Shanxi province, passes through Linyi county and ends in Heyang county, Shaanxi province. It is the longest Yellow River road bridge among the 12 that currently connect Shanxi and Shaanxi provinces.
The main structure of the bridge stretches 3,816 meters and features a continuous steel-box composite beam design with a typical span of 128 meters, comprising 30 spans in total. During construction, the steel-box girders were simultaneously pushed from both the Shanxi and Shaanxi sides, achieving a record-breaking 29,000-ton girder push. The project also reached four significant national construction milestones.
The bridge now links up with the Shaanxi Heyang-Tongchuan Expressway and integrates into the existing highway networks of southwest Shanxi and southeast Shaanxi. This enhanced connectivity will improve road and rail transportation across Shanxi, Shaanxi and Henan provinces.
The new infrastructure shortens travel time between Yuncheng in Shanxi province and Tongchuan in Shaanxi province from four hours to just two-and-a-half, significantly boosting regional transportation efficiency and economic integration.
