Flight CA781 recently departed from Urumqi Diwopu International Airport and landed at Tbilisi International Airport in Georgia. The flight marked the official launch of the Urumqi-Tbilisi route, operated by Air China Limited (Air China), a subsidiary of China National Aviation Holding Corporation Limited.
Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia and its political, economic, cultural and educational center, is now directly connected to China via this new route. As part of Air China’s efforts to support the Belt and Road Initiative, the route enhances connectivity between the two nations, fostering collaboration in trade, culture and tourism.
The service is operated using Boeing 737 aircraft, with a total flight time of over five hours. Before the inaugural flight, a launch ceremony was held at Terminal 3 of Urumqi Diwopu International Airport. Passengers on the first flight received commemorative gifts, including city badges and postcards, highlighting local cultural heritage.
Upon arrival at Tbilisi International Airport, the inaugural flight crew received a warm reception, including a grand celebration to mark the successful opening of the air corridor.
