A vessel carrying engineering machinery recently departed Shandong’s Rizhao Port for Algeria as part of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The delivery marks the launch of Rizhao Port's first dedicated breakbulk cargo route to North Africa.
Guided by the strategy for high-quality construction of the BRI and the China-Africa Cooperation Forum, infrastructure collaboration between China and Africa has made significant progress. In 2024, Rizhao Port seized opportunities arising from African nations’ infrastructure growth by partnering with shipping companies and agents to explore new markets, attract clients and establish new shipping routes.
These efforts aim to strengthen the port's breakbulk cargo services and accelerate the creation of a "world-class supply chain integrated service system anchored by ports", enabling innovative logistics channels to facilitate the global reach of Chinese products.
Rizhao Port has implemented refined production management strategies and utilized a smart scheduling platform to manage operations, ensuring smooth and efficient cargo loading for the voyage.
The port will build a smooth, high-performance international logistics corridor to boost trade between China and Africa.
