The recent unloading of cargo by COSCO Glory and COSCO Tengfei marked a historic milestone in Peru as Chancay Port, developed by China COSCO SHIPPING Corporation Limited (COSCO SHIPPING), began trial operations.
COSCO Tengfei departed from Shanghai on its maiden voyage, carrying 2,756 vehicles bound for Chancay and other regions in South America, officially inaugurating COSCO SHIPPING’s new line service to South America. Meanwhile, COSCO Glory completed its task of unloading equipment and frame containers in just one day before departing from Chancay Port.

The new route significantly improves the efficiency of transporting vehicles and heavy equipment between China and South America. It is the fourth addition to COSCO SHIPPING’s vehicle liner network, following established routes in the Persian Gulf, Southeast Africa and Europe.
Offering a stable monthly service, the route will primarily connect Chancay, Peru, and San Antonio, Chile, with the option to include ports in Colombia, Ecuador and other countries in the region based on market demand.
In addition to the direct Shanghai-Chancay route, COSCO’s vehicle shipping subsidiary is enhancing the automotive supply chain in Chancay by providing tailored services, including warehousing, pre-delivery inspection (PDI) and distribution.
The company is also developing a multimodal network integrating sea, road, and rail logistics, enabling efficient vehicle distribution across South America. This comprehensive service ensures diverse and reliable end-to-end solutions for its customers.
