The China Huadian Corporation Ltd. has signed a cooperation agreement with the China International Import Expo Bureau and the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), becoming the first power generation partner to provide green energy for the 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE).
As part of the agreement, Huadian has donated 10,000 green power certificates from its Shanghai Chongming Lyvhua “Fishery-Solar-Tourism” Photovoltaic Power Generation project to the Shanghai convention center.
The initiative, which will utilize Chinese green certificates to achieve zero-carbon energy usage at the Shanghai venue, is a first for the CIIE. The 10,000 certificates will cover the green power consumption needs for a two-month period around the event, contributing to an estimated reduction of 4,200 tons in carbon emissions. This year’s scale and duration of green energy usage surpass all previous CIIE events, significantly enhancing the international impact of Chinese green certificates.
In recent years, Huadian has actively supported China’s "dual carbon" goals and the development of a new energy system, providing uninterrupted, high-quality clean energy for a “zero-carbon CIIE” for the last seven years.
So far this year, Huadian’s green energy transactions have reached 11.2 billion kWh, with 5.818 million green certificates traded, reinforcing its commitment to a sustainable, low-carbon transition.
