FAW Group Production Exceeds 60 Million Units

Updated: July 23, 2024

China’s FAW Group Co., Ltd (FAW Group) recently announced that its cumulative vehicle production has exceeded 60 million units, while more than 9 million Jiefang brand trucks have now been produced. The figures highlight FAW's increasing presence on the global automotive stage.

In terms of clean power, FAW has developed technology platforms for "high-efficiency electric drive, power batteries, and carbon-neutral power". The passenger car ultra-high-speed efficient electric drive system the company has developed can reach a speed of 22,500 revolutions per minute, with a system efficiency of up to 96 percent. The company has also introduced all-climate power batteries for passenger cars, maintaining 80 percent capacity at temperatures as low as -30°C.

In intelligent connectivity, FAW has established technology platforms for "intelligent driving and smart cabins." It has made breakthroughs in high-precision pure vision bird’s-eye perception technology, ensuring safety for all driving and parking scenarios. By applying AI large model technology, users can reach their destinations with a single click.

FAW has also advanced its capabilities in intelligent chassis, creating technology platforms for "active suspension, steer-by-wire and brake-by-wire". These innovations ensure a smooth ride on uneven roads, with steering angle response times of less than 30 milliseconds and braking response times of less than 200 milliseconds.

Focusing on driving safety, FAW is accelerating the development and application of advanced material technologies. Its proprietary cage body structure for passenger cars has achieved dual five-star safety certification from both Chinese and European safety bodies. The company has also launched the first all-aluminum frame and aluminum-plastic composite chassis for commercial vehicles, with 1,100 kilograms of aluminum used in total per vehicle.

FAW remains committed to the practical application of its scientific and technological achievements. Its subsidiary, FAW Jiefang, has spent three years developing the "J7 Leading Technology Platform". Designed for high-efficiency, long-haul logistics, the platform focuses on power domain coordination, vehicle predictive control and ultra-low resistance. It has made breakthroughs in 16 core technologies, achieving a 14 percent improvement in vehicle energy efficiency.

Additionally, the platform has led to the creation of an intelligent driving assistance technology framework and the launch of the world's first L2-level intelligent driving system for commercial vehicles, achieving the first mass-produced commercial vehicle standard configuration in China.

The platform aims to provide users with a green and environmentally-friendly driving environment and a versatile interactive experience which incorporates eight core technological breakthroughs.
