Dongfeng Motor Corporation reported robust export growth from January to June this year, with complete vehicle exports reaching 112,000 units, marking a year-on-year increase of 9.1 percent.
Among the exports, Dongfeng brand vehicles totaled 76,000 units, a YoY increase of 31.3 percent, while commercial vehicle exports reached 32,000 units, a YoY increase of 82.5 percent.
Dongfeng is currently intensifying its exploration of overseas markets, with a focus on strengthening investment in model development, brand promotion and channel construction abroad.
The company has developed right-hand drive models of the Dongfeng GX commercial vehicle and Dongfeng BOX passenger vehicle and incorporated Russian language interfaces into Dongfeng products for the Central Asian market. Dongfeng was one of the largest exhibitors at the 8th China-Eurasia Expo last month, where it showcased several representative models and successfully signed five bulk order contracts with partners.
In the first five months of this year, Dongfeng's exports to Central Asian countries surged by 71 percent YoY. There have also been significant moves into the market in the Americas. On June 14, a shipment of 1,000 Dongfeng light trucks, ranging from 1 to 18 tons, was dispatched to the Americas, while, a week later, a batch of Dongfeng Aeolus (Yixuan) self-owned brand vehicles was shipped to Panama.
Dongfeng is also fostering enhanced collaboration across its various units to support the expansion of the entire industrial chain. The company is accelerating the construction of overseas marketing and production bases, aiming to localize certain processes and complete vehicle assembly through technical and joint-venture cooperation, thus fostering win-win partnerships.
To further explore overseas markets, Dongfeng is also increasing efforts to cultivate international business talent.
"In the first quarter of this year, we received nearly 40 batches of customers,” said a representative from the UAE Marketing Center of Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle Overseas Marketing Department.
"The export sales of Dongfeng brand passenger cars in the Middle East market reached 2,000 units, exceeding the target by 20 percent.”
