In recent years, Yantai Port in Shandong province has steadily upgraded its capacity, developed an intricate logistics network and accelerated the cultivation of new quality productive forces.
These efforts contribute significantly to facilitating high-quality international outreach for “Made in China” products, enabling rapid and direct access to global markets.

As one of the 15 pivotal ports in the Belt and Road Initiative, Yantai is striving to construct a two-way logistical “golden corridor” between China and Africa, actively enhancing operational efficiency. By scientifically allocating production factors, leveraging the software advantages of “smart tallying + joint loading”, and the hardware advantages of “integrated equipment framework container operation”, the port maximizes the reduction of vessel stay time while ensuring safe production.
The port has also traversed the “last mile” in electronic services by implementing technologies such as automatic document retrieval, automatic data processing and one-time signature generation. These advances effectively resolve the issues of time-consuming and inefficient paper loading orders, achieving “zero waiting time” for foreign ship tallying visas.
From January to May this year, Yantai Port completed the shipment of 4.5 million cubic meters of general cargo, a year-on-year increase of 73 percent, further solidifying its position as Shandong's general cargo base and the logistics hub for general port cargo in northern China.
At Yantai Port, the China-Africa liner service is continuously exploring more cost-saving and efficiency-enhancing measures. As China's third-largest foreign trade vehicle export port and Shandong's largest specialized automobile terminal, Yantai aims to use technology to save costs and improve efficiency. The pioneering all-terrain high-speed intelligent transfer equipment for commercial vehicles utilizes technologies such as lidar and millimeter-wave radar to perceive and recognize commercial vehicles and obstacles, enabling autonomous route planning and precise vehicle placement, thus achieving the goal of saving on labor and fuel costs.
From January to May this year, Yantai Port completed a total shipment volume of 288,000 commercial vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 30.2 percent. Yantai has now opened nine foreign trade commercial vehicle routes and five domestic trade commercial vehicle routes, connecting more than 30 countries and regions.
Located at the maritime and land crossroads of the BRI, Yantai Port is seizing the opportunities presented by the growth in exports of “three new” products (EVs, lithium batteries and solar cells) and high-end equipment, creating a visualized and intelligent smart port.
Through a series of innovative measures such as port function structural adjustment, multimodal transport channel construction, smart port technological informatization empowerment, brand business cultivation, systemic production efficiency improvement, and comprehensive supply chain services, the port effectively reduces logistics costs, enhances import and export efficiency, and supports high-quality economic development.
