China Hands Over Upgraded Hospital Project to Nepal

Updated: June 07, 2024

The China-aided project for the upgrading and renovation of Sindhupalchowk Hospital in Nepal was recently handed over.

The design and management were undertaken by the China Qiyuan Engineering Corporation, a subsidiary of the China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group (CECEP).

Located in Sindhupalchowk district, Nepal, the project covers a total construction area of approximately 3,790 square meters. It includes the construction of a new hospital complex, a pump room, a medical waste temporary storage station, and a generator shed, along with associated outdoor works and the provision of some medical furniture and equipment.

In 2015, Nepal was struck by a major earthquake, with the epicenter in Sindhupalchok district, which suffered extreme devastation. Public buildings such as schools and hospitals were almost completely destroyed. As one of 25 post-disaster reconstruction projects aided by China, the livelihood project was carried out to provide medical services to approximately 60,000 residents of Sindhupalchowk district. It will further improve the local medical environment, enhance medical service levels, and promote the development of friendly relations between China and Nepal.
