Road & Bridge International Co Ltd, a subsidiary of State-owned China Communications Construction Co, completed the south anchor of the north channel bridge of the Zhangjinggao Yangtze River Bridge in East China's Jiangsu province on Monday, one month ahead of the planned schedule, the company reported in a statement.
This was the first anchor to have its bottom sealed in the entire project, said the Beijing headquartered company.
The Zhangjinggao Yangtze River Bridge project has a total length of about 29.8 kilometers, with a river-crossing section of 7.86 kilometers. It includes the south channel bridge with a main span of 2,300 meters and the north channel bridge with a main span of 1,208 meters.
The foundation of the south anchor of the north channel bridge adopts a circular diaphragm wall with an outer diameter of 90 meters and a wall thickness of 1.5 meters, according to Road & Bridge International.
This completion work is for the first layer of the base plate, already with a total of 10,900 cubic meters of concrete poured.
The future completion of the Zhangjinggao Yangtze River Bridge will be significant and practical for implementing the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region and the Yangtze River Economic Belt, improving the regional road network layout, promoting cross-river integrated growth and building a high-level Yangtze River city cluster, according to the statement.
