CHN Energy Develops Overseas Photovoltaic Project

Updated: May 08, 2024

PLN NP, a subsidiary of Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), recently announced that Guodian Power Development Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of CHN Energy Investment Group Co., Ltd (CHN Energy), won the bid for the 100,000-kilowatt floating photovoltaic power station project in Karangkades, Indonesia.

This is the first overseas photovoltaic power station project of CHN Energy, and it is also the first time that a Chinese-funded enterprise has won the bid for a centralized photovoltaic IPP (independent power generation company) project in Indonesia.

The project is located in Karangkates Dam, Malang city, East Java, Indonesia, with a planned installed capacity of 100,000 kilowatts. It is currently the second largest centralized photovoltaic power station project in Indonesia, and is planned to be put into commercial operation in 2026.

After being put into operation, it is expected to provide 212 million kWh of clean electricity to Indonesia every year, save about 61,400 tons of standard coal, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 168,300 tons. The project is of great strategic significance for Indonesia’s achieving the goal of carbon neutrality, improving its energy structure, and promoting regional economic development as well as bilateral energy industry cooperation between China and Indonesia.
