China Southern in Green Flight

China Southern Airlines Company Ltd. (China Southern) in 2023 completed 2.84 million hours of transportation flights and transported 142 million passengers. 

It reduced a total of 175,100 metric tons of fuel and cut down carbon emissions by 551,600 tons through the green flight.

In 2023, China Southern improved the overall strategy of high-quality development and made progress in aspects like construction of the Beijing hub, ecosystem building, and digital transformation. 

The company also made endeavors in establishing and improving the system and mechanism for technological innovation, developing strategic emerging industries, and improving the modern corporate governance of state-owned enterprises with Chinese characteristics, as well as optimizing market-oriented operational mechanisms.

In response to China's "dual carbon" goal of peaking carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and reaching carbon neutrality by 2060, China Southern formulated an action plan of carbon peak. It also accelerated the overall digital fuel-saving process, and enhanced aircraft performance. 

Green flight service was also highlighted in 2023, aiming to provide "carbon-neutral" flight experience for passengers.

The company also plays a role in the country's rural revitalization, invested nearly 74.7 million yuan ($10.33 million) in targeted counties, and trained 3,061 talents in various fields. It also attracted investment of nearly 1.83 billion yuan, leading to settlement of 28 projects, and creating more than 1,200 jobs for local people.
