Updated: March 20, 2024

Passenger trips on the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway, the first of its kind in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, have risen to 2 million since the line began operation on Oct 17, 2023.

It is a cooperative flagship project of China and Indonesia under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.

At present, 40 trains are scheduled to run on the railway every day and seats for passengers have been increased to more than 20,000. The peak daily passenger trips have reached 21,537, with a peak passenger occupancy rate of nearly 100 percent.

In order to ensure safe and orderly operation of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway, China's advanced experience in high-speed railway operation and maintenance management has been adopted while considering local weather and climate.

What's more, the joint maintenance consortium highly valued training of Indonesian staff, intending to improve local employees' operational and management capacities through theoretical training, simulated procedures, and mentorship programs.

There are more than 100 Chinese employees from CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of CRRC Corporation Limited (CRRC), working on relevant positions in Indonesia, contributing to sustainable, safe and reliable operation of the railway.
