Updated: March 14, 2024

A 99,000-cubic-meter large-scale ethane-ethylene carrier has been named PACIFIC SP MINERVA and delivered to its buyer.

As the world’s largest ethane-ethylene carrier in terms of cargo capacity, PACIFIC SP MINERVA has a total length of 230 meters, a beam of 36.6 meters, and a depth of 22.5 meters. It is equipped with an innovative B-type cargo containment system and is designed for shipment of various kinds of liquefied gases such as ethane, ethylene and liquefied petroleum gas.

It’s worth noting that the carrier can dock at major liquefied gas terminals worldwide.

This carrier has outstanding performances in low fuel consumption, evaporation rates, and maintenance costs, and has no liquid level loading restrictions.

It is also the first time ethane dual-fuel main engines, shaft generators and various energy-saving devices were installed on this type of carrier, which is expected to take the lead in low-carbon development transformation of the high-end shipbuilding industry.

In recent years, Jiangnan Shipyard (Group) Co., Ltd. has taken the spotlight in the market of ultra-large ethane-ethylene carriers, obtaining 87 percent of relevant global orders.

It plans to deliver four 99,000-cubic-meter ultra-large ethane-ethylene carriers this year and eight more in 2025.
