With the largest diameter high-speed railway tunnel in Beijing, the tunnel was dug with the “Jingtong” tunnel boring machine (TBM).
The TBM is about 138 meters in length and has a diameter of 13.3 meters. It is about 3,200 metric tons in weight.
The machine started operation on Dec 28, 2023, and has moved forward 1,285 meters. It is expected to complete the excavation of the tunnel this June.
