The Muzhailing Tunnel of the Lanzhou-Haikou Highway is now in service after eight years of efforts.

It is a key section of the 237.74-kilometer Weiyuan-Wudu section, and a major part of the backbone traffic network of the Silk Road Economic Belt in Gansu.

As the tunnel opened to traffic, travel time through the Muzhaling Mountains shortened to less than 12 minutes, a great reduction from the previous one hour of time required.
