CCCC Holds Open Day Event on Green Development

China International Water & Electric Corp’s branch in Laos, a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC), has held an open house event at its company, intending to strengthen connectivity and promote mutual development with local government and enterprises.

Themed on “Green Development and Building the World Together,” the event was attended by Lao and Chinese government officials, staff members of enterprises and institutes and the mainstream media.

At the event, China International Water & Electric Corp’s contribution to the development of the hydropower industry in Laos through the past 20 years was affirmed.

A review and reports on the outlook of China International Water & Electric Corp’s projects in Laos and sustainable development of CCCC in that country were released at the event, showing China International Water & Electric Corp’s work on branding building and its role in industrial development, flood control and improvement of livelihoods.

The third Lancang-Mekong Book House Project Public Benefit Activity was also held during the event, at which 2,430 text books and facilities like water cleaners, chairs and blackboards were donated to a local school in Laos by China International Water & Electric Corp staff members.

The head of the school said that the activity improved the relationship between the school and China International Water & Electric Corp staff members around the world. It helped each student and teacher at the school have their own text book. Students at the school performed traditional Lao dances at the activity to show their happiness.

The company also inked cooperation agreements with the Lao Institute of Technology to welcome students as internships at the Nam Lik 1-2 Hydropower Project at the open house event.

The open house event is an opportunity for Lao people to know more about China International Water & Electric Corp. In the future, the company will continue to actively fulfill its social responsibilities following the green development concept and work together with all parties to build a better world.

China International Water & Electric Corp started its business in Laos in 1996 and was one of the first Chinese enterprises to enter the Lao market. 

Throughout the past 20 years, the company has been devoted to providing clean energy and improved export of China-developed hydropower facilities. It adopted Chinese standards and experience in construction and security management of the projects and promoted export of Chinese rules while fulfilling social responsibilities. 

So far, the company has built five hydropower stations and four power transformation lines in Laos. It is also responsible for operation of three hydropower stations in the country, with total installed capacity of 440,000 kilowatts and has generated more than 11.3 billion kilowatt-hours of power, providing stable energy to Laos and contributing to its social and economic development.
