An agreement on exporting China-developed electric commuter trains was inked by CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of CRRC Corporation Limited (CRRC) and an Indonesian company on Jan 31.
It is the first contract on exporting China-developed electric commuter trains to Indonesia.
According to the contract, CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd. will provide three new electric multiple unit (EMU) trains.
The new trains are expected to adopt new technologies with the maximum speed of 120 kilometers per hour and a greatest passenger capacity of 3,396. Each of the trains will consist of 12 units with stainless steel bodies and will be made suitable for the local 1,067-milimeter gauge.
What’s more, devices like the LED dynamic electronic map and the passenger information screen are installed on the trains.
A control platform will be installed in the middle unit carriage of each train to make inspection and repairing of the train easier.
The new EMU trains are scheduled to be delivered in 2025. Once operational, they will bring a high-quality commuting experience for local passengers.
