The deepsea large professional rescue vessel was independently designed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC) and built by China Merchants Heavy Industry (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. of China Merchants Group. It was one of the most-difficult-to-build projects requiring the best technologies to provide the most advanced functions in the field of deepsea rescue.
The vessel has a length of 136.9 meters, a width of 26.7 meters and a height of 11 meters. With a designed draft of 6.5 meters, the vessel has a full load displacement of 19,000 metric tons and a range of 16,000 nautical miles.
It can be used in air, sea and undersea rescue and has functions like personnel search and rescue, vessel towing, firefighting, emergency rescue, information transmission and emergency command, as well as monitoring of oil spills and pollution.
Upon its operation, the vessel is expected to play a role in handling various kinds of maritime emergencies, carrying out searching and rescue of ships in distress and providing security and service guarantee for marine shipment and marine resource development. It will also participate in global maritime search and rescue, safeguard marine transport passages and guarantee the safety of lives and smooth maritime logistic supply chains in the South China Sea.
