The Dakar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project in Senegal, the first all-electric BRT system in Africa, recently opened for service.
CRRC Corporation Limited (CRRC) provided more than 120 pure-electric buses to the project, which was the company’s first overseas DLS electric bus project and its most valuable new energy bus export order.

The bodies of the buses have outstanding anti-corrosion properties, making them suitable for operations in dusty weather and salty air.
The buses can carry as many as 150 passengers and their endurance is no less than 250 kilometers. Their duplex winding direct driving ability makes them highly-efficient and energy conserving.
The BRT buses will run through the most crowded residential and business zones, shortening commuting time between the suburbs and the downtown of the city from 90 minutes to 45 minutes, which effectively relieves traffic condition in Dakar.
The BRT system is one of the key projects under the framework of the Senegalese Economic Resiliency Plan. It has been given priority in pushing forward the structural transformation of the country’s national economy.
