World's Largest Container Ship Begins Sea Trial

OOCL Valencia, a 24,188 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) ultra-large container ship, began its sea trial on Jan 9, 2024.

It is the fourth 24,188 TEU container ship built and delivered by NANTONG COSCO KHI SHIP ENGINEERING CO., LTD, a subsidiary of China COSCO SHIPPING Corporation Limited (COSCO SHIPPING Group), and the world's largest container ship completed so far this year.

With a length of 399.99 meters and a width of 61.3 meters, the ship has a deck as large as 3.5 standard football pitches, making it capable of accommodating 24,188 standard containers.

The ship is equipped with the latest technology achievements and is designed for outstanding performance in security, reliability, energy-conservation and environmental protection as well as intellectualization.
