Generally contracted by China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC), the BRT system is one of the key projects under the framework of the Senegalese Economic Resiliency Plan.

Its construction started in November 2019.

With a total length of 18.3 kilometers, the system includes 23 closed bus stops and three hub transfer stations.

Once fully operational, the system is expected to handle 300,000 passengers per day. The total travel time between the terminals of the system is 45 minutes, which greatly shortens commuting time from the suburbs to downtown and improves urban traffic.

What's more, operation of the system is expected to provide more than 1,000 jobs for local people.
