The Hainan Roundabout Tourism Highway in South China opened to traffic on Dec 18 after three years of construction.

The total length of the highway is 988 kilometers, with 453 kilometers newly built. Stretching through 12 cities and counties, the highway is major infrastructure supporting construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port and helping to build Hainan into an international tourism consumption center.

Once fully operational, the highway is expected to push forward leapfrog development of the region's tourism industry and be of great significance in promoting integrated development of its transportation capacity bolstering tourism and the local economy.
The highway was invested and built by China Railway Group Limited.
