First built in the late 1800s, the Valongo Wharf was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2017. Later, State Grid Corporation of China (State Grid) joined hands with the National Cultural Relics Bureau of Brazil to launch an archaeological site protection project there.
The project includes installation of the lighting equipment and signals around the area and launched an exhibition called "Valongo, Cais de Ancestralidades" for educational activities, telling people the history and need for protection of the site.
State Grid's Brazilian company started its business in Brazil in 2010 and has been participating in power infrastructure development while contributing to public welfare and sports and cultural exchange.
