A ceremony was held on Dec 12 to announce the beginning of construction of eight key projects in the China-Laos Mohan-Boten Border Economic Cooperation Zone, marking that construction of the Mohan International Port City is in full swing.
With a total investment of nearly 3.42 billion yuan ($198.81 million), the eight key projects are related to such fields as construction of the cross-border capacity cooperation park, agricultural products processing, comprehensive transportation, water conservancy projects and social programs.
Construction of the projects will improve the commercial supporting facilities, optimize the image of Mohan, and raise people's sense of happiness and contentment in affected area.
China Railway Group Limited will participate in five projects.
Located in the border area of Southwest China's Yunnan Province and North Laos' Luang Namtha Province, the China-Laos Mohan-Boten Border Economic Cooperation Zone is one of the traffic hubs between China and the Indo-China Peninsula as it is a key pivot of the China-Laos Railway, the Kunming-Bangkok Expressway and the north-south expressway of Laos.
