The No. 1 generator unit of the Sirdarya combined cycle gas-turbine (CCGT) Independent power project in Uzbekistan, the largest of its kind in Central Asia, was put into operation on Nov 27 local time.
Generally contracted by China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd., the 1,500MW power generation project in Sirdarya is the first IPP project invested and developed by a foreign company.
It is equipped with the world's highest combustion temperature gas turbine with the largest power output and best efficiency and was developed in accordance with the zero-waste water discharge plan, making it a world-leading green and energy-conserving project.
As a major livelihood project led by the Uzbekistani government, it is expected to eventually provide more than 36 million kilowatt-hours of power daily to local residents and to offer more than 700 jobs for local people.
