China has built up its first high Earth orbit satellite internet as the Zhongxing 16, 19 and 26 satellites were sent into preset orbits, according to China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC).
The arrangement is the first of its kind to cover all of China and major regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
In the future, China Satellite Communications Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of CASC, will promote development of satellites with greater capacity, and it is expected that by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period the total capacity of high-throughput communication satellites will exceed 500 Gbps.
