A platform combining oil and gas production with shore power facilities -- the center platform of Chengbei Oilfield — completed ship installation in Qingdao, East China's Shandong Province on Oct 30, 2023 and is set for offshore installation in early November. The center platform is an 8-legged, 8-pile platform with a total weight of nearly 15,000 tons, and stands over 10 stories high. [Photo/sasac.gov.cn]

What sets this central platform apart from all other offshore oil and gas platforms in China is its pioneering model of joint construction for oil and gas production and shore power supply. High-voltage transmission equipment and the oil and gas processing platform are co-built on the central platform, effectively integrating shore power directly into the traditional central processing platform. This construction model is the first attempt of its kind in China and has no precedent in Asia. [Photo/sasac.gov.cn]
