China-Built Landmark Buildings along the Belt and Road

The Morodok Techo National Stadium is constructed by China Construction Eighth Engineering Division Corp., Ltd., a subsidiary of CSCEC. The stadium, located in the suburbs of Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, covers an area of 16.22 hectares with a total building area of over 80,000 square meters and a seating capacity of 60,000. It is the largest and highest-grade sports stadium that China has constructed overseas to date. [Photo/sasac.gov.cn]

Over the past ten years since the inception of the Belt and Road Initiative, China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC), has dispatched groups of skilled professionals and undertaken a number of construction projects. They worked in tandem with countries and regions along the route to enhance local infrastructure, drive industrial development, and establish convenient local public service networks, offering Chinese construction solutions for major Belt and Road projects and contributing Chinese expertise.

The African Union Commission Conference Center and office complex were built by CSCEC at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This project is one of the largest African aid projects from the Chinese government.

In Colombo, the picturesque capital of Sri Lanka, China Construction Second Engineering Bureau Ltd., a subsidiary of CSCEC, undertook the construction of the Lotus Tower, a television tower designed and constructed to Chinese standards facing Beira Lake. When illuminated with LED lights at night, the "Lotus" transforms into a stunning and vibrant addition to Colombo's night skyline.

The Exchange 106, also known as the Signature Tower, is a super tall high-rise building built by China Construction Malaysia Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of CSCEC. It reaches a height exceeding 450 meters and is an established landmark in the core area of the Tun Razak Exchange financial district of the capital city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is a multifunctional office building encompassing finance, commerce, shopping, and office spaces. With a building height of 452 meters above ground, it is one of Malaysia's tallest structures and will become Kuala Lumpur's new central business district as a part of the Tun Razak Exchange under the new urban overall development plan.

On April 25, 2019, the Maritime Silk Road Phnom Penh Forum under the Belt and Road Initiative was held at Diamond Island, the core area of the Phnom Penh CBD. Representatives from 33 global chambers of commerce, associations, and related organizations attended the forum. The Prince Group Headquarters Building, where the event was held, was constructed by China Construction Fourth Engineering Division Corp. Ltd., a subsidiary of CSCEC. This landmark project is Cambodia's first 5A modern comprehensive commercial office building and a model of local ecological and energy-efficient buildings. It shows CSCEC Fourth Division's dedication to actively implementing the Belt and Road Initiative and has been recognized as an important achievement. It won the Luban prize for overseas construction projects.

China Construction (South Pacific) Development Co. Pte. Ltd., a regional subsidiary of China State Construction Engineering Corporation, undertook the construction of Oasis Terraces, a new neighborhood center in Singapore. The Oasis Terraces project is situated in Punggol, Singapore, adjoining Punggol Waterway Park. This five-story complex integrates green gardens, a community square, educational facilities, a medical center, commercial layouts, public housing, and subway transportation.
