The year of 2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative. China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), one of China's earliest enterprises that have engaged in international cooperation, has been focusing on the exploration, development, and technical expertise services in the oil and gas sectors along the Belt and Road over recent years, with the aim of forging the "Maritime Silk Road of Energy".

At present, CNOOC has established multiple overseas oil and gas production bases, extending its operations to over 30 countries along the Belt and Road. The tangible results of these cooperation ventures have already benefited local communities.

Over the past decade, CNOOC has fulfilled its global corporate citizenship responsibilities and assisted local livelihood projects. One notable example is the Buhuka Water Diversion Project in Uganda, the country's first community water supply project, which benefits over 13,000 residents in the Buhuka region by providing access to clean water. Residents who previously had to trek several kilometers across cliffs to fetch water from mountaintops using buckets no longer need to.
The CNOOC constructed a 10-kilometer cross-cliff road in Buhuka village, located east of the Kingfisher oil field in Uganda. This infrastructure has entirely changed the living conditions of local residents, who previously traversed perilous mountain paths up to three kilometers, at an elevation of 400 meters, and with gradients exceeding 60 degrees.
