The Guanyinyan hydropower plant is the largest hydropower station in operation in the middle reaches of the Jinsha River. It is a significant project for promoting the Western Development strategy and the West-East Power Transmission program. The total installed capacity is three million kilowatts, with a designed average annual electricity generation of 12.07 billion kilowatt-hours.
Since the commissioning of the first unit in 2014, Datang Guanyinyan Hydropower Development Co., Ltd. has comprehensively implemented the new energy security strategy and worked on the electricity supply, continuously producing green and clean electrical power.
The company highlights safe production and strives for scientific and precise scheduling to maximize electricity generation. The units of the power station have exceeded their designed capacity for five consecutive years.
The company also sticks to ecological and green development and has taken measures for the comprehensive protection of water ecology, water resources, and water environments. The surrounding environment of the power station's reservoir area has seen significant improvements.
The company has also made tremendous efforts in advancing ecological progress. It spent 113 million yuan ($15.47 million) in building a 3-hectare fish breeding station, becoming home to nearly 100 rare domestic fish species. It achieved breakthroughs in artificial breeding techniques for Onychostoma sima, Procypris rabaudi, and Leptobotia elongata, and completed scientific research on the breeding, artificial reproduction, and seedling cultivation of Triplophysa anterodorsalis, filling the domestic gaps.
In addition, the company cumulatively invested one billion yuan in special assistance funds for poverty alleviation in Lisu ethnic areas. This has benefited six counties and districts of Nujiang, Lijiang, and Chuxiong in Yunnan Province, and helped lift 192,200 people of the Lisu ethnic group out of poverty, contributing to the ongoing revitalization of rural areas.
