Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Macao Cross-Border Cargo Transfer Terminal Put into Use

Updated: August 14, 2023

The Macao Cross-Border Cargo Transfer Terminal near the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge was officially put into use on Aug 8, realizing direct land transport between Hong Kong and Macao.

Located in the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Macao checkpoint area and to the south of the east parking lot of the Macao frontier inspection building, the terminal has an office building and a cargo transfer area.

The transfer area includes a container transfer area, a bulk cargo transfer area consisting of 20 truck berths and loading and unloading platforms, and five temporary power supply berths for refrigerated container trucks.

The container transfer area provides container lifting services, and the bulk cargo transfer area offers cargo loading and unloading services for trucks from Hong Kong and Macao. The transfer areas operate 24 hours a day.

According to Nam Kwong Logistics Co., Ltd., the operator of the terminal, the transfer terminal is available for online booking and is directly connected to Macao Customs, which will simplify the customs declaration and clearance process, shorten the customs clearance time, and improve the efficiency of cross-border transportation.

In addition, the terminal will help solve a number of cargo transport problems between Hong Kong and Macao, such as detours through multiple cities by land transport, and shipping schedule and frequency by sea transport. It effectively reduces transportation costs and improves the timeliness of freight transportation.

The terminal also makes it possible for the rapid transportation needs of high-value goods, fresh food and medical emergency supplies, so as to bring new development opportunities to Macao's logistics industry and many other industries.
