The first two self-developed C919 large passenger aircrafts that China Eastern Air Holding Co., Ltd (China Eastern) has received started dual aircraft commercial flights between Shanghai and Chengdu in Southwest China's Sichuan Province on Aug 4, marking the steady expansion of commercial operations of the C919.
The flight numbers of the two C919 for the route between Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and Chengdu Tianfu International Airport are MU9197/MU9198 and MU9189/MU9190.
According to plan, China Eastern now operates four C919 flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, and two flights a day for the rest of the week.

China Eastern, the first customer of the C919 from the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd.(COMAC), received the very first C919 on Dec 9, 2022, and the aircraft accomplished its maiden round-trip commercial flight between Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and Beijing Capital International Airport on May 28.
Since then, the first C919 has served passengers on the Shanghai Hongqiao-Chengdu Tianfu route, and has completed a total of 125 commercial flights with a flight time of 360.32 hours and carrying more than 15,000 passengers as of July 31.
China Eastern received its second C919 on July 16.
According to China Eastern, it operates around 38 round-trip flights every day on the Shanghai-Chengdu route, involving Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, Shanghai Pudong International Airport, Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, and Chengdu Tianfu International Airport. The route is an important business boutique route of the airline.
Other flights on the route will accumulate important operational data and experience for the commercial operation of the C919, in a bid to boost the high-quality development of large domestic aircraft, according to the company.
