Dong'an Lake Sports Park Stadium

As one of the main venues of the 2021 Summer World University Games, Dong'an Lake Sports Park Stadium has one stadium and three gymnasiums. It is designed to resemble a "Sun Bird" and is comprised of a 40,000-seat class A stadium, an 18,000-seat class A multi-functional gymnasium, swimming and diving halls and a small ball arena.

Gianni Merlo, President of the International Sports Press Association, commended the city's stadiums for being of Olympic-level quality and expressed his awe at the city's stunning surroundings.

In addition to Dong'an Lake Sports Park, CSCEC also undertook the design and construction of over 30 other venues and supporting projects, including Phoenix Hill Sports Park, the Chengdu High-Tech Zone Sports Center, and Chengdu Open Air Music Park. This concerted effort has contributed to hosting a green, smart, vibrant, and inclusive sporting event.

CSCEC has utilized cutting-edge construction technology, smart energy management systems, and renewable energy to build environmentally-friendly and energy-efficient venues.

The athlete village's service center cleverly employs a design that promotes natural ventilation to create a cosy space, enhance energy conservation and reduce carbon emissions.

At the multi-functional gymnasium, a rainwater recycling system was installed to collect and process rainwater for irrigation and road cleaning, thereby promoting water conservation. The swimming pool adopts state-of-the-art water-saving techniques to meet international water quality standards while reusing water resources.

Phoenix Hill Sports Park

Phoenix Hill Sports Park incorporates rainwater separation and utilizes a rainwater drainage system. The purified rainwater is then repurposed for road cleaning and irrigation, minimizing the environmental impact of the building.

The Dong'an Lake Library, serving as the media center for the games, was built using prefabricated steel structures, fostering an industrialized and standardized construction process, thereby reducing noise and construction waste during the building process.

Smart

During the construction of the main stadium at Dong'an Lake Sports Park, CSCEC adopted a steel structure life-cycle smart management platform and implemented a full-process Building Information Modeling (BIM) simulation, which ensured the high-precision closure of the roof steel structure at an elevation of 50 meters, with installation precision controlled within 2 millimeters.

The multi-functional gymnasium can be transformed from an ice hockey rink to a basketball court in 4 to 6 hours.

Meanwhile, Phoenix Hill Sports Park boasts four 4K ultra-high-definition LED screens, facilitating real-time transmission and display of match information and videos during events.

Sharing

After the 31st FISU Summer World University Games, these venues will continue to serve as venues for citizens' fitness activities, further contributing to the well-being of Chengdu residents.
