The bridge connecting the University of Macau and the Hengqin Port, which was built by Nam Kwong (Group) Company Limited, passed the joint completion acceptance on July 31, marking completion of the project.
The bridge is located on the south side of the Lotus Bridge of Macao, and has a total length of approximately 808 meters.
This project is one of the key projects of the second five-year plan for economic and social development (2021-2025) of the government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR), and it is also one of the key projects of the overall plan for the construction of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, Zhuhai.
The project team has overcome a number of challenges during the construction process, such as the bridge design scheme adjustment before the start of construction, tight construction period, limited operating conditions, and coordination difficulties. To ensure quality, as well as timely completion of the project, the team adjusted its design plan, made rational construction arrangement, and accelerated the construction progress, completing key work on schedule.
The completion of the project is expected to boost interconnection of Hengqin-Macao integrated infrastructure, improve services and traffic capacity, and help accelerate the integration and development of the Macao economic circle, and the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. It also provides support for Macao to integrate into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, as well as the rapid connection of land transportation.
In addition, it will contribute to the efficient and convenient economic and social development of Hengqin and Macao, which is of great significance to promote high-quality development of Hengqin-Macao integration.
