The Binhai Interchange of Hangzhou-Ningbo Expressway Double Lines, built by China Railway 15th Bureau Group Corporation Limited, a subsidiary of China Railway Construction Corporation Limited, was fully connected on July 25. With the smooth placement of the final steel-concrete composite beam, measuring 30 meters in length and weighing 170 tons, it is the largest maritime expressway interchange hub in Asia.

The Binhai Interchange of the Hangzhou-Ningbo Expressway Double Lines is a key and essential project of the Ningbo section of the Hangzhou-Ningbo Expressway Double Lines. It has a total length of 9,705 meters and has a cloverleaf shape, occupying an area of 613.03 hectares in the sea, making it the largest maritime interchange hub in Asia.
The interchange includes eight ramp bridges, and every two bridges converge to form one span-width bridge, connecting with the existing Jintang Bridge. A total of 470 steel-concrete composite beams were used, each measuring 20-30 meters in length. The complex geological structure of the sea area, as well as multiple submarine pipelines, including oil pipelines, ENN gas pipelines, and 500 kV submarine cables, brought many challenges to the construction.
The Ningbo section of the Hangzhou-Ningbo Expressway Double Lines is scheduled to be completed and opened to traffic by the end of 2023. It will significantly reduce the time travelling between the southern wing of the Yangtze River Delta and Shanghai, Jiangsu, and other provinces and cities. This is of great significance for improving the national highway network and the construction of the Ningbo-Zhoushan Port logistics network, and for promoting the economic development of Zhejiang Province.
