China launched a Long March-2D carrier rocket at the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in North China's Shanxi Province on July 23, successfully sending four satellites, Sixiang 01, 02, 03 and Lingxi-03, into the preset orbit.

The satellite launch was conducted by China Great Wall Industry Corporation, a subsidiary of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, as the project contractor.
The Long March-2D carrier rocket is a room-temperature liquid two-stage carrier developed by Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology, a subsidiary of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation. The rocket has the capacity to carry single or multiple satellites into different orbits, with a payload of 1.3 tons to a 700-kilometer sun-synchronous orbit.
This launch was the 479th flight of the Long March rockets.
