The Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant in Bangladesh, which was designed and constructed by Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA), completed construction recently, which will play an important role in improving and protecting the water quality of local rivers and environment.

The sewage treatment plant is the first and largest modern large-scale sewage treatment plant in Bangladesh, and also the largest monolithic sewage treatment plant in South Asia to date.

As a crucial livelihood project in Bangladesh, the treatment plant has a daily sewage treatment capacity of 500 million liters, and it provides modern sewerage service to nearly five million people in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, greatly improving the quality of life of the people.

This project is also an important part of the Belt and Road Initiative.

It is the first time that the spray drying and rotary kiln incineration technology and equipment with China's independent intellectual property rights were used in overseas projects.

Based on its advantages of sewage treatment plant design and construction, POWERCHINA adopted the composite foundation method based on cast-in-situ piles, saving the costs of deep sand foundation treatment. The company worked with dozens of Chinese and foreign construction units, suppliers and thousands of Chinese and Bangladeshi construction workers during the construction. By overcoming various adverse effects, they ensure successful operation of the project.
