Asia's Largest Onshore Oil Terminal Exports Over 160 Million Tons of Crude Oil

Updated: July 21, 2023

The Tianjin Branch of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) recently announced that the Suizhong 36-1 onshore oil terminal, featuring the largest crude oil processing, gathering, and transport capacity in Asia, has cumulatively exported more than 160 million tons of crude oil since it was put into operation 23 years ago.

The oil terminal has made significant contributions to ensuring national energy security and promoting economic development in the Bohai Rim region, said the company.

The Suizhong 36-1 onshore oil terminal covers an area of approximately 650,000 square meters and serves as a comprehensive facility integrating crude oil processing, storage, and exports.

Since its completion in 2000, the terminal has undergone five reconstruction and expansion projects to store and process offshore platform-produced crude oil from the Bohai Sea and Liaodong Bay areas.

It handles crude oil produced from a number of "star oilfields" for centralized processing, including China's largest self-operated offshore oilfield, the Suizhong 36-1 oilfield, the country's first large-scale offshore heavy oil thermal recovery oilfield, the Lyuda 21-2 oilfield, and Asia's largest joint offshore oilfield, the Jinzhou 25-1 oilfield.
