The 500,000 kilowatts photovoltaic systems of CHN Energy Investment Group (CHN Energy) Guohua Energy Investment's Ningdong Renewable Hydrogen and Carbon Emission Reduction Demonstration Project passed the maximum power output test of the Ningxia Power Grid Control Center, confirming that the project has been connected to the grid at full capacity.
This marks significant progress for the project, which boasts China's first commercial renewable hydrogen project coupled with chemical and transportation scenarios, and China's first renewable hydrogen and carbon emission reduction demonstration project featuring the whole hydrogen industry chain and integrating production, storage, processing and use.

The Ningdong Renewable Hydrogen and Carbon Emission Reduction Demonstration Project is located in the Ningdong Energy and Chemical Industry Base in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, with a total investment of about 3.8 billion yuan.
The main construction projects include a 620,000-kilowatt hydrogen production photovoltaic project, tow solar hydrogen production plants where the hydrogen production scales total 20,000 standard cubic meters per hour, two hydrogen refueling stations with a total capacity of 4,000 kg/day, as well as hydrogen pipelines and hydrogen heavy-duty trucks.
The project is developed and constructed by Guohua Energy Investment Co., Ltd. and Ningxia Coal Industry Co., Ltd. of CHN Energy, and Ningxia Electric Power Co. Ltd. of the State Grid.
As a typical demonstration project of CHN Energy, the project is part of efforts made by the company to achieve the country's carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals. It promotes the carbon reduction of the largest coal-to-oil chemical base in China, and boosts the deep coupling of the green chemical industry, green transportation and new energy.
Thanks to the project, a whole industrial chain of renewable energy hydrogen production, green hydrogen replacement of coal chemical industry, hydrogen storage and transportation, and hydrogen refueling has been established. In addition, it realizes the deep integration of clean energy supply and the world's largest single-scale coal-to-oil project, paves the way for the commercialization of China's hydrogen energy industry, and explores a practical path for its sustainable development.

When completed, the project will become the largest green hydrogen production and consumption base in China, and will change Ningdong's heavy coal-based energy structure and high energy carbon emissions structure in an effective manner, enabling the Ningdong base to achieve high-quality, ecological environmentally friendly, green and low carbon development.
