Since its establishment 40 years ago, the China Geo-Engineering Corporation, a subsidiary of China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group (CECEP), has adhered to humanitarian principles and provided much needed engineering assistance for the construction of schools and children's education in host countries and regions during the construction of projects under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Its efforts have ensured the Chinese central state-owned enterprise has a good image, and established a solid humanistic foundation for friendly exchanges and deepening integration and development between China and Africa.
In 2017, when the China Geo-Engineering Corporation Ghana Branch was working on the well drilling project, the company learned that Liberian schools were facing severe challenges in drinking water, sanitation and power supply.
With the coordination and support of the local government, the company started the construction of a pilot project in December 2021, which aimed to build an energy-saving and sanitary water system on campus that meets the standards of the World Health Organization.
Not a single ordinary building, this pilot project is a green energy-saving and sanitary water integration system, which is both replicable and sustainable.
The project is dedicated to improving and promoting the development of Liberia's campus public health. It also helps accelerate the pace of carbon emission reduction and energy conservation, and enables local people to gain a higher sense of gain and happiness.
In addition, the project contributes a mature feasible solution that can better protect the educational environment of children in Africa.
The system is composed of a photovoltaic solar power generation system, lighting devices, a solar water pump, a drinking-water fountain with a filtering device, a high standard toilet and related supporting facilities.
Based on the real situation of Liberia's traffic and schools, the company also designed a convenient, fast, and easy-to-promote container toilet, solving the school's hygiene and cleaning problems in a short period of time.
So far, the company has completed the pilot project for two schools in Liberia, which has been highly praised by the Ministry of Education of Liberia and the local community.
