The 6,845-meter undersea tunnel with an immersed pipeline section of 5,035 meters is a key section of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan bridge.

Located in the core area of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Shenzhen-Zhongshan bridge is a world-level cross-sea passage cluster project integrating engineering of tunnels, islands, bridges and undersea passages. It is also the most difficult to design and build cross-sea passage.

The bridge is scheduled to open in 2024. Once operational, it is expected to be a major highway linking cities of the Shenzhen-Dongguan-Huizhou and Zhujiang-Zhongshan-Jiangmen city clusters, which will be of great significance to improve the traffic and transportation system in the Pearl River Delta region and the national highway network, and push forward integrated development of the Greater Bay Area city clusters.
