The volume of green power trade mechanism of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 and the 4th Asian Para Games Hangzhou 2022 had reached 621 million kWh.
The amount equals that produced by burning 76,320.9 metric tons of standard coal.
The 65 venues for the event in East China's Zhejiang Province are expected to be capable of using green power from this March to the end of the year.
The Hangzhou 2022 organizing committee, Zhejiang Power Exchange Center and the Hangzhou Power Supply Company of State Grid Corporation of China signed an agreement on green powering the event on April 28, 2021.
In 2022 and 2023, five and eleven green power transactions were made, with a total power volume of 227 million and 394 million kWh respectively.
The green power involved in the transactions is generated nationwide from regions such as Northwest China's Qinghai and Gansu provinces and Zhejiang, and is mainly generated from solar and wind power.
To ensure verifiable and traceable green power, State Grid's subsidiary in Zhejiang adopted a blockchains technology and built a green power tracing system. The system includes key information of production, transmission, transaction, consumption and settlement of the power, enabling tracing, checking and proving of the green power supply of Hangzhou 2022 venues.
