The 5G base station was built by China Mobile Limited's subsidiary in Qinghai.

Considering the unique natural environment of Hoh Xil, the company aimed to use large bandwidth and long distance microwave communication transmission in a high altitude uninhabited area for the first time.

The area within 7 kilometers of the protection station now has access to 5G network with a maximum internet transmission rate of 860Mbps.

According to a staff member at the Sanjiangyuan National Park administration, located within the area, the operation of the 5G base station at the Zhuonai Lake Protection Station is expected to help transmit high-resolution observation videos of the migration of Tibetan antelopes. It is a key step for the park to realize smart management.

Upon service of the base station, the patrol mode integrating 5G remote video inspection, on-site patrol and helicopter patrol is planned to be adopted in the region, improving the management effectiveness of national parks and forming a more complete protection and scientific research system in Hoh Xil.
