With an annual capacity of 500,000 metric tons, the project is the largest thermal power-based carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) project in Asia and the purity of the carbon dioxide produced by the project on the dry basis exceeds 99 percent.

CCUS is an emerging technology of highly-efficient development of fossil energy.

According to Liu Jiandong, chief engineer at the Taizhou Power Plant, the project is expected to play a model role in realizing China's "dual carbon" goals of peaking carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and reaching carbon neutrality by 2060 and provide experience for green and low-carbon development.
