Developed by China Datang Corporation Ltd., the project is equipped with two 9F gas-steam combined cycle generator units.

It is the first project to start construction in the region after the overall plan of the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port was released.

Construction of the project started on Feb 28, 2021.

Advanced technologies and an innovative water treatment system had been widely used during construction and operation of the project, making it the first power plant in Hainan to realize zero waste water release based on MVR evaporating crystallization technology.

What's more, digital and industrial internet technologies were also widely applied in the plant, achieving digital and smart control of the entire production and operation, which makes the project the first 5G-based smart power plant in the region.

Upon operation, the plant is expected to generate 2.4 billion kilowatt-hours of power annually, equaling that produced by burning about 250,000 metric tons of standard coal and representing a reduction of more than 1.92 million tons of carbon dioxide. It will be of great significance to improving the surrounding environment, meeting the increasing power demand in affected areas and boosting high-quality development of the regional economy.
